I would like to
welcome you to the Department of Food Engineering at Dhaka University of
Engineering & Technology, Gazipur. Our department has been dedicated to
providing high-quality education and research opportunities in the field of
food engineering since its inception in 2017.
Currently this
department is offering undergraduate degree named ‘Bachelor of Science in Food
Engineering’. Moreover, postgraduate programs are to be offered soon. Our
courses have been developed with the combination of conventional as well as
novel concepts of food engineering education, to ensure that our graduates play
leading roles in the development and improvement of various food and allied
industries globally.
Our academic and
research activities focus on the frontier areas of food sector, such as food
processing and preservation, post-harvest operations, health oriented
nutrition, food safety and quality management, transport process and kinetics,
product development and ingredients innovation, food packaging and storage systems,
process control and optimization, computer-aided designs and manufacturing
systems.
Our department possesses
required numbers of fully equipped laboratories, namely the Food Analysis Laboratory,
Food Processing and Packaging Laboratory, Food Microbiology and Safety
Laboratory etc. To boost high-quality research activities, these laboratories
have been provided with sophisticated instruments, including UPLC,
spectrophotometer, colorimeter, bomb-calorimeter, advanced microscopes,
real-time PCR, automatic titrator and so on.
The strength of our department lies in its
diversity and interdisciplinary nature of faculty members, staff and
